About Hi, I'm Patrick
On my journey to become a master data scientist, wielding statistics like spells
I have a deep passion for data and the insights that can be drawn from it. When I was a junior in high school, my teacher gave me an operational knowledge of differential equations and I was awestruck by their powers of prediction. My journey through physics has been one of learning all the ways that we can predict reality. Now, I want to shift my focus to predicting user behavior and business outcomes.
How I Got Here
The same teacher that introduced me to differential equations also helped lay out my academic career. I went to California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo in 2013 for Physics originally, later adding a Mathematics major. I was a member of Jennifer Klay's research group, working on the ALICE experiment at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. I visited CERN three times as an undergraduate to serve as a shift leader for detector operations. This is where I met my Ph.D. advisor, Christine Nattrass. In 2018 I started my graduate degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I have continued my work with ALICE. Along the way, I found a passion for data science and machine learning, with a focus on more people-centric data. I am now looking to transition into a career in data science where I can use my skills to help people and businesses.
